Building A Mining Rig: The Best Results From DIY 2022

Thanks to the experience gained over the years, I carry out the design, construction, and configuration of mining rigs for the production of different types of cryptocurrencies.

Learn how to do Dual Mining which is a more efficient way of mining for profitability.

The construction of a mining rig is an operation that everyone can do but finding the right setting and stability of the system is a fairly difficult operation that requires certain skills.

Once the right setting has been found, the mining rig continues to work non-stop 24 hours a day, requires no maintenance and is easily controlled even from a smartphone.

Mining is the calculation procedure that solves a cryptographic code by giving a cryptocurrency as prizes, there are two main mining methods:

  • CPU mining is done using the processing power of the CPUs
  • GPU mining is done using the processing power of graphics cards

There is a second distinction that can be made of mining platforms, namely that relating to the type of algorithm in fact, for example the bitcoin algorithm can be mined by machines ASICs ( Application Specific Integrated Circuits ) are devices specifically created for mining and to date, they are the only ones that can be used for Bitcoin Mining in order to obtain a profit (CPU and GPU can also be used for bitcoin mining but the cost of electricity consumed would be higher than the revenue)

Many other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum, Monero, Dashcoin etc. etc. can be mined from home by building a mining rig i.e. a computer that can install multiple video cards in order to take advantage of the processing power of video cards to perform mining.

Why are video cards used for mining?

Because the ratio of processing power and electricity consumption is better and therefore coins can be produced having a positive balance, hoping that the coins will grow in value in the future.

How do you build a mining rig?

Building a mining rigBasically a mingin rig is a PC, so you need the classic components of a PC, that is, motherboard, ram, CPU processor, hard disk, power supply and video cards that are sufficiently powerful to be able to perform the mining while considering the current consumption.

What components should I choose to build the mining rig?

Motherboard: The motherboard must have at least 4 PCI slods to install the video cards, better 6 slots an excellent motherboard for this type of work is the ASUS PRIME H270-PLUS which allows you to install 6 video cards

CPU: As a CPU, a cheap processor such as Celeron is sufficient, but those wishing to install a more powerful CPU such as a CORE I5 or CORE I7 can use the CPU power to do bitcoin micro-mining through Computta

RAM: A large amount of RAM is not required if you install Windows 10 4Gb is sufficient, but 8GB is better

HARD DISK: It is recommended to use an SSD disk, if you are mining via mining pool (it is recommended) you do not need a high capacity, 120 GB is enough, if you do not use mingin pools it is better 500Gb or even 1Tb.

Video Cards: There are different types of video cards I recommend the Zotacs because they have a lower electricity consumption, because they have a limited budget the ZOTAC GeForceĀ® GTX 1060 Mini is a great compromise, for those with a higher budget the GTX 1080 TI and GTX 1070 have excellent processing power, for the AMD version the suitable cards are: RX570 , RX570 Mining Edition , RX580 Nitro +

Riser: The riser is an adapter that allows you to install different video cards via a USB cable, this is necessary for space reasons.

Power supply: It must be able to power all the video cards so you have to see in the manual what is the consumption of the video cards and use a sufficiently powerful power supply or use two power supplies.

Mining di Ethereum

For Ethereum mining my advice is to use Claymore dual mining and mine Ethereum and a second cryptocurrency such as SIA Coin. The hardest part is setting up the video cards to maximize the hash rate.

There is no standard setting that applies to all and all cards, very often it happens that a specific setting is required for each card even if they are perfectly the same.

In order to properly set the cards, I recommend using MSI Afterburner and TechPowerUp GPU-Z software for data control.

Through this software, it is possible to overclock video cards maximizing the performance and therefore the mining power, but at the same time you should pay attention to having a stable system that does not crash and does not crash, it happens very frequently.

As a mining pool, I recommend using which also gives you detailed data on your production, here is the example of a mining rig with 4 Zotac GTX 1060 Mini cards that total consumption of about 500w
